ZEUS arrived at the shelter mid January 2025 with an estimated age of 2 to 3 years and an intake weight of only 17 scrawny pounds. He is an adult Husky mix so that weight clearly did not match his breed mix. He was placed on a court hold and staff was able to double his weight in no time, thanks to all of the good food that is consistently being given to the shelter animals through generous public food donations. One by one ZEUS made friends with each of the shelter staff, as he lost his initial fear that he might be abused there. The case against the person who was charged in his case has concluded and ZEUS has been permanently removed from that person‘s care by court order. Shelter staff is thrilled to be able to make ZEUS available for adoption to a loving, caring, person or family who is truly committed to the welfare of their animals. Thanks to a partnership between UT and Cumberland County Animal Shelter, ZEUS was neutered on Monday, May 5. As a result, he can go home the same day that he is adopted! Serious adopters are encouraged to CALL the shelter to schedule an adoption appointment. Staff can explain the adoption procedures and fees when you call. The shelter does require EXACT change in the form of cash or a check. The shelter is UNABLE to accept credit or debit. So, please go prepared! That includes taking a dog collar and leash with you to the adoption appointment in case you do decide to adopt this boy. Even better, consider taking a dog crate with you to that appointment. No animal should be allowed to run freely in any vehicle. Especially an animal that you have just adopted! Safety first!
