At just 19 pounds, this 2-year-old German Shepherd mix may look like a puppy, but he’s the perfect compact size for cuddles, car rides, and long walks. Zeke is gentle, sweet-natured, and happiest when he’s part of a pack—whether that’s playing with other dogs, curling up beside you on a rainy day, or calmly lying near your feet in the evening. Although he may be a little timid when first meeting new people, a few tasty treats are all it takes for Zeke to warm up and start showing his affectionate side. He quickly learns routines and thrives in a calm, consistent home where he knows he’s safe and loved. He’s housetrained, crate trained, and already knows a few basic commands like “Come,” “Wait,” and “Sit.” At bedtime or mealtime, he heads to his crate on his own, tail wagging, knowing there’s a treat waiting for him. Zeke enjoys leash walks, especially when exploring a quiet trail with a doggy friend. He also loves playing ball or tug-of-war in the yard with other pups and gets along beautifully with dogs of all ages, from playful fosters to more senior companions. He has lived with children and cats, and while he may be a little shy around new people at first, he’s never shown a hint of aggression—only gentle curiosity and a desire to feel safe. While car rides still make Zeke a bit nervous (he’s been through a lot and may worry about being left again), with time and reassurance, he’ll learn to associate car trips with fun adventures. For now, he’s perfectly content staying close to home, enjoying the simple comforts of a soft bed, a fenced yard to play in, and a loving family nearby. Zeke would do best in a home with a fenced yard and another friendly, playful dog to show him the ropes and keep him company. He’s a quiet, easygoing companion for anyone seeking a loyal friend who wants to be part of your everyday life without demanding too much.
