VESPER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!
Come meet Vesper and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/04) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria, VA (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!
Name: Vesper Best Guess for Breed: Border collie and retriever mix
Best Guess for Age: 4.5 months as of April 15, 2025 SEX: Male
Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!): 14 lbs as of 4/4/25
Gets Along With: Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training.
Currently Living at: D.C. area foster home.
Special Adoption Considerations: Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think Vesper would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure he can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.Additionally, puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.

Vesper is Looking For: Woof! I'm Vesper and I'm coming all the way from Vieques, Puerto Rico. My buddy Venus and I have had fun in our shelter foster home here but we're ready to split up and get our own forever homes. I might no longer be a squishy little baby pup but I'm still a puppy and I want lots of play time and snuggles and play time. And to explore my new neighborhood - the local parks - and the rest of the world! I want to make pup pals along the way and go to dog school so I can show you how super smart I am.
In exchange I promise to make you smile, to give you adoring gazes and happy little tail wags, and to be your loyal companion for all my days. What do you say? Do I get to grow up with you?
What My Foster Says About Me: Vesper just joined us this weekend and has been so happy to meet people. He did well in the car ride home, and has been busy investigating the house, looking for toys. He has found a few crinkle toys that he enjoys, and has done well so far entertaining himself. Outside, he has followed me around the yard, while I do work and is already becoming quite the little shadow already.
Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog! TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.
