Meet Tess â the big puppy! Tess is a St. Bernard mixed with a German St. Haired Pointer. At 8 months old, this girl is approaching full grown at 90lbs. She is a typical puppy for her age but in an extra large size. She has been in foster homes and demonstrated that she is house trained and has done well when left alone for brief periods in a room to herself. When Tess arrived at the Shelter, she had a fractured right rear leg. The fracture was stabilized with a splint and bandages for several weeks and she is now ready to continue her recovery without a splint in her new home. Her bone is still healing and her adopter will need to abide by a restricted activity plan until she is fully healed. Tess has lived with a dog savvy cat in a previous home as well as children and has done well. A dog friend in the home may be a fit but adopters will need to manage interactions to ensure that Tess continues to heal her fracture. Interested in bringing this big puppy home? Come meet Tess today! This dogâs adoption fee is reduced to $70 from May 1st to May 15th as part of âEmpty the Sheltersâ, an adoption event hosted by the Bissell Pet Foundation to help pets across the nation find the loving adoptive homes they deserve. Please note: Our Santa Cruz locationâs Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end âmeet and greetsâ (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If youâd like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
