Skipper made his way to us all the way from our friends at the Valdez Animal Shelter! Skipper was in Valdez for about three months, and they decided that this sweet boy needed a change in scenery to help him find his forever home. Skipper is an active dog who is reaching his golden years. Though he tends to have a cool and collected personality he will never say no to having a good time! Meaning walks, adventures or a good game of fetch are some of the things he enjoys. Having a positive outlet for his energy is truly beneficial for him. Skipper, overall, has great manners! He is gentle with taking treats, sits so nicely and is polite in his kennel. He may get a little carried away when someone brings out a squeaky toy though and will jump up on you! Skipper is potty trained and appears to be at least mostly crate trained. He doesnât necessarily pull on a leash but does tend to let his nose lead the way and usually requires some redirection! Skipper reportedly has done well with other dogs and cats. We encourage slow introductions and please keep in mind that Skipper will need time to adapt to his new home. 3 months and counting is such a long time for any dog to be in a shelter! Skipper has not been reactive towards other dogs in the shelter, and we can always provide a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed. Additionally, Skipper is a social butterfly and doesnât have a shy bone in his body. From what weâve been told, he has done great with children, but we are uncertain if he has lived with children prior to coming to us. Skipper is in desperate need of a loving home, and we want nothing more than to help this boy succeed.
