MEET RED!!!
Red has two great traits -- he is affectionate once he trusts you, and he is a fast learner. He was saved from the euthanasia list by a wonderful foster. There isn't any history known about Red, but he has a few scars on his muzzle, neck and hip. Red is adapting well to his foster family. He follows the two other dogs around the house, and he listens to them when they let him know they are annoyed by him. He still has puppy-ish tendencies and likes to play and chew. He will shred stuffed animals, but a good sturdy chew bone will keep him busy for a good while.
Red is still learning to trust again. It is best to go slow with him because he is afraid of sudden moves, grabbing his collar and head and will freeze and sink to the floor when scared. He has acclimated to the kennel over time. He sleeps in it all night next to his foster's bed. Initially he barked at the kids in the family, but he just needed time to get used to their size and movements. Now he follows them around too. He is very respectful with meal time, standing back when the bowls are being filled and taking treats very gently. He has shown no interest in escaping the yard, if fact, he doesn't like being alone or left behind.
Red is leash trained (uses a harness) and loves to play. He will fetch a ball twice but don't expect a third retrieval. He enjoys doing zoomies around the yard and likes to play with other dogs especially those with a similar play style. He still has almost a daily accident (pee) in the house, so his foster is working on frequent trips out to the yard with praise and success. Overall, Red has a really nice personality and just needs some more training with a patient and understanding person. He would do best in a home with other well-behaved youngish dogs to play with and a yard. Off leash parks would also be a good idea to help work off some of his energy bursts. This boy is a catch.
