Hello there! I'm Puggles, an energetic and bouncy little Pug mix (possibly with some Jack Russell in my family tree!) weighing in at a perfect 18 pounds. As a young adult about 2 years old, I've got the perfect balance of playful energy and growing maturity.
I'm an affectionate love bug who thrives on being the center of attention. My foster mom says I'm friendly, bouncy, and absolutely devoted to my humans. When it comes to snuggles and playtime, I'm all in! I have lots of puppy-like energy and enthusiasm that makes every day an adventure.
I'm very food motivated (treats of all kinds make my tail wag at supersonic speeds), and I love to chew on tougher rubber toys. If it squeaks, even better! I'll play with it until I'm completely tuckered out. Speaking of playing, I get along wonderfully with dogs my size - my foster's resident female dog and I will wrestle and play until we both need a nap!
I'm making great progress with my manners, though they're still a work in progress. I know several commands including "sit," "outside," and "go potty." I'm fully potty trained for outdoor business, though I might occasionally mark inside (I'm still learning that indoor marking isn't polite). I'm crate trained and sleep well in my cozy den.
While I do walk on a leash, I must admit I get excited and tend to pull a bit - it's just that the world is so exciting! I would truly thrive in a home with a fenced yard where I can run and play safely. Speaking of safety, loud noises can make me a bit nervous, so a calm environment would help me feel secure.
One thing to know about me is that I can be a chatty boy - I like to express my opinions and let you know when something exciting is happening! I haven't been tested with cats yet, so that's an unknown territory for me.
I prefer the company of smaller dogs like myself, as larger dogs can intimidate me a little. I'd really love to be in a home with another friendly dog my size - having a playmate makes life so much more fun! I do get a bit jealous when my humans give attention to other dogs or people, but that's just because I love affection so much.
I'm not sure how I feel about children under 12, as I haven't spent much time with them in my foster home.
If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will fill your days with laughter, love, and maybe a few squeaky toy concerts, I might just be your perfect match! Are you ready to meet your new best friend?
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
