A cheerful almost five-year-old American Bully from Jacksonville, FL, whose heart is as big as his smile and whose glossy black coat—with stylish white accents—is just the beginning of his charm.
Onyx is a classic social butterfly who thrives on attention, affection, and being included in everyday life. Whether he's soaking up belly rubs, greeting new canine friends with a wiggle and wag, or following his human from room to room, he's all about connection! Bones and squeaky toys bring him instant joy, but truth be told, nothing tops quality time with his people. Onyx is incredibly food-motivated—so much so that he’ll go on sneaky snack missions if left unsupervised! Because he has food allergies to chicken, beef, turkey, and potatoes, he sticks to a special lamb-based limited ingredient diet and can safely enjoy salmon as a tasty treat.
Outdoors is Onyx’s happy place. He loves to explore the yard, sniff the breeze, and soak up the sun—though seasonal environmental allergies do mean he may need a little extra care when pollen is high. When he's indoors, Onyx enjoys napping in his cozy crate or bed and has no trouble being left alone for short periods. He eats once a day and knows several useful commands like “sit,” “stay,” “no,” “eat,” and “come.” He’s also crate trained and house-trained, though he may mark inside if he doesn’t get enough attention and activity—something that can be managed with routine exercise and inclusion in family life.
Onyx is wonderfully friendly with other dogs and does great with young children. He hasn't had much experience with cats, so a careful introduction would be wise. Doorbells can give him a bit of a startle, but otherwise, he's a pretty cool cucumber.
What Onyx needs is a caring home where he’s not just a pet but a cherished family member. If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and loving companion who’ll bring laughter, cuddles, and lots of heart into your life, Onyx is ready to meet you!
