Mr. Potato Head came to us as a stray, but with 3 young puppies who looked a lot like him... We don't know much about his life before the shelter, and he was wary when he arrived, but he's realized he's safe, and has really come out of his shell as a friendly, sociable, enthusiastic guy who loves petting and attention AND going on walks and adventures. Basically, Mr. Potato Head is looking for a home where he can showcase ALL his hats, noses, ears, mouths, and eyes! We suspect he's a mixture of Chihuahua and French Bulldog, or something of the sorts, and is about 2 years old. He is a bit nervous in the shelter setting but warms up quickly with sweet talking, treats, and respectful handling. He loves to be petted and snuggle in a lap once he has a little time getting to know you. His adoption fee is reduced to $70 from May 1st to May 15th as part of “Empty the Shelters”, an adoption event hosted by the Bissell Pet Foundation to help pets across the nation find the loving adoptive homes they deserve. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
