Foster or forever home wanted, meet Mandy! Mandy came into the San Bernardino shelter as a stray on 2/11/25. Shortly after, she was exposed to parvo when kenneled with other dogs who broke with the virus. Mandy was quarantined to watch for symptoms that luckily didn't happen. However, Mandy was in the shelter environment long enough to come down with a pretty bad upper respiratory infection. The shelter treated her for the URI and she fully recovered.
The San Bernardino is one of the shelters with a very high intake. As a result, their kennels are overcrowded, sometimes with as many as 5-6 large dogs in each. This has led to issues with dogs becoming injured as fights can break out. Mandy was involved in a scuffle over food which presented another obstacle for Mandy to overcome. Mandy was at risk for euthanasia due to her time there at the shelter. We got an exit plan together and got her out of the shelter.
Mandy went straight to our vet where she was treated for Giardia and spayed back on March 31. Since Mandy is new to the rescue, we are still getting to know her. If you are interested in meeting Mandy, please fill out an application at labradorsandfriends.org. Mandy is located in Southern California.
