Karen is a well-behaved, very sweet, and lower energy dog. She loves to hang out next to you on the couch, bask in the sun at your feet in the backyard, or snuggle up next to your side in bed. She's a little timid to start but is very much a sweetie. Either walks are new to her or she's still a little nervous but she has done really well so far, easy to leash/harness, and not reactive to other sights/sounds - just needs a little bit of coaxing to trot along. Karen lived with another small dog before but seems to be nervous around her fosters' bigger resident dog in the few days she's been there. Since she hasn't been reactive to other dogs on leash during walks she may just prefer the company of smaller dogs in her home, but might do just fine with bigger dog siblings given time. She is slowly getting more comfortable with her foster sibling who is good at giving Karen her space. Karen is ok with the resident cats when they leave her alone.Karen is learning the ropes of home life and would love a family who’s excited to help her continue learning good routines and growing into a more confident dog. Karen will appreciate a patient adopter who knows it may take a little time for her to fully come out of her shell. This dog was rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas.Meet and greets are by appointment only.  An approved application is required to schedule a meeting. (you have to sign up for the insurance or it will not go into effect).  Adoption fees help cover the medical care of the animals while he or she waits for a new home, as well as food and transportation costs. These fees help to provide care for the other animals in the shelter or rescue group who may have medical bills that are much higher than any possible adoption fee. The money also acts as a donation to help support the organization as a whole, allowing the group to continue its efforts to rescue and rehome pets.
