Meet Joey, the yorkie-poo (Yorkie Poodle mix). Joey was initially reserved upon his arrival to the Shelter but has been warming up to staff and volunteers. Joey had previous experience hanging out with similar sized dogs and soliciting play but larger dogs can be a bit spooky. After a couple days, Joey decided the Shelter and staff were not too bad. He started to come up to the kennel, soliciting attention and was able to be picked up. We anticipate Joey will continue to blossom in an adoptive home. Could that be with you? This dog’s adoption fee is reduced to $70 from May 1st to May 15th as part of “Empty the Shelters”, an adoption event hosted by the Bissell Pet Foundation to help pets across the nation find the loving adoptive homes they deserve.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
