Animal Profile: Honey is a 1-year-old, 40lb petite Labrador mix (best guess) that was found as a stray in Texas. She was immediately put into foster care as the local shelter is no place for a dog. Honey is very timid, but very soft natured. Within 48 hours she was eating out of her fosters hand and approaching for affection and belly rubs, but she will need a somewhere to gain confidence here in the PNW. Honey is friendly with other dogs and cats, and would do best in a home with at least one other dog to show her the ropes.
Foster Update:
Honey is coming out of her shell more and more everyday, but can by shy with new people. She gets a lot of confidence and reassurance from the resident dog in her foster home, so we are looking to place her in a home with another confident, even tempered dog.
She is a very sweet dog that is very unreactive and loves going to breweries, farmers markets, and hiking. She gets along great with our cats; however, she does have a prey drive towards birds and small wild animals. For a young dog, Honey is pretty mellow and enjoys lounging in the sun. She's great on leash and is generally quiet.
Honey has containment anxiety, and does not enjoy her crate. She does well left loose in the house or gated in a room. However, for her continued safety and wellbeing, it is important that her future adopter is able to continue with her training (practicing leaving her alone and continuing crate training with crate drills, feeding in the crate, etc) so she can learn to self regulate and exist calmly and safely in the crate.
