Meet Fergus. He has lived alone for so long he doesn’t know he has a name!
This poor Georgia Malinois lived in a kennel space for at least 2 years, lacking physical and mental stimulation, since his owner died. A friend of his family reached out for help. He was starved for attention and liked string cheese. He likes balls and chews, but he will drop them in a heartbeat if there is a chance to be touched. When he is not bouncing about, he allows you to his head, ears, feet, chest, mouth, and tail. He flops over for belly rubs and loves the the idea of two people rubbing his undercarriage at once. He is working on
manners and basic obedience, and will need a person committed to extremely slow and controlled introductions to other dogs.
Fergus means “strong man,” and he must be strong to live through what he has and still have so much love to give!
Fergus is currently working on parallel walks with the neutral dog in the foster home, basic obedience, and releasing objects on command though he enjoys holding something in his mouth while he chatters.
Fergus will need an experienced handler who understands Malinois and will offer clear, consistent boundaries as he continues to learn how to be a member of an active home.
