What kind of home would be best for me? Duck is a young, happy, active boy looking for an active home. Like most young poodles, he is full of energy and mischief and pure joy. Duck's ideal forever home meets some specific criteria. First, you must lead an active lifestyle. Duck is no couch potato - he's a young dog who needs lots of physical and mental stimulation. Second, you must let your dogs sleep in the bed. This is non-negotiable. And finally, you must have a plan for training. Duck is a young boy who needs mental and physical stimulation daily.
Duck could work in an apartment or a single family home. He'd love a fenced yard, but this isn't a requirement if you have a plan for LOTS of daily exercise and socialization with other dogs. Duck enjoys the company of other dogs, but could be your one and only if you have a plan for regular play and socialization (3-4 times per week with other young, active dogs).
What is my personality like? A dog named Duck - how could we resist! With a name this silly for a canine, what more could you expect than a funny, full of energy, toy-loving bundle of energy! Duck's foster mom describes him as a silly boy who is full of personality. Like a toddler learning to explore the world, Duck is full of wonder and never ceases to bring a smile to your face.
Duck loves other dogs and plays happily with the other small dogs in his foster home. He loves squeaky toys, proudly carrying them around (and not destroying them as some of his foster siblings have been known to do). He is always happy to go for a car ride, smiling happily from the back seat (he'd sit up front if you let him).
Duck is a living testament that your past doesn't define your future.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Duck is a happy-go-lucky boy who enjoys meeting new faces and making new friends.
Other tips and tidbits: Duck was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on him. The shelter estimated him at 1 year old, celebrating his birthday 04/22/2024. We suspect Duck may be slightly younger.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
