A SWEET & FUN FRIEND: Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 15 lbs.
Hi, my name is Darcey! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m happy to be here! I was a bit nervous initially, but I am settling in as I realize I am in a safe place with lots of folks who love me and want to see me find my furever family. I’m ready to do that now! I got to participate in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot!
• OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I came to Mostly Mutts with another dog, but the shelter environment overwhelmed me, so I haven’t done well meeting dogs there. While at the prison/foster training program, I did make a special dog friend — but I know I’ll need a very particular match to get along with another dog. Because of that, I might do best as your one and only! Let’s meet away from the shelter with my trainer and see if we can be pals. / I should not live with cats. Though I have not met them officially at Mostly Mutts, I reacted to them when I saw them through the glass at the shelter, so – no kitties, please! / I met a nice boy and girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and was very hesitant and fearful of them. I’ve shown some guarding behaviors and reactivity, so kids 15+ could be a better match for me. Let’s meet!
• PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: The volunteers took things slowly with me initially and now my wonderful nature has blossomed! I’m described as fun, playful and super sweet and I know you will love my friendly nature. I’m alert to my surroundings and am a barker, so best no apartment or condo-type home please. The shelter environment makes me a tad nervous, and I’ve shown some reactivity and guarding behaviors which are easily corrected, and my trainer will be happy to go over this with you. I was a well-mannered little girl for my bath and did great for my nail trim, too. / My energy level is 6-8. Typical of my Jack Russell breed, I would do best in a home with a fenced-in yard, where I can run and burn off my energy.
• SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. / My crate manners were good in the prison/foster training program. / My potty habits were good in the prison/foster training program.
• LIKES/DISLIKES: Playtime is always fun, and I really like for the volunteers to bring out the toys (hard toys and tennis balls are my favorite)! I think I could play with those all day! I’m a good walker, so I hope there are lots of walks in our future. I also enjoy a nice nap and some cuddles after a good play session. I’m ready to be your fun companion! / Other than showing reactiveness to other dogs I see when out and about and certain loud noises, I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training.
• MEDICAL: I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.
I am looking for a loving home with a wonderful family! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.
