Dakota was surrendered to the shelter with her sister Lil Su. Though they are such good girls and very sweet, the owners did not provide us very much background information on them. Dakota is the most active of the two. She loves to hop around outside and is happy to chase toys for you! She hasn't quite mastered the game fetch; she just likes to be involved! Dakota has been very social with all of her friends at the shelter but we do suspect that she may be a little shy when first meeting. Don't worry, she does warm up quickly! Dakota enjoys spending time with her sister and spends most of their play time together trying to encourage her to play. In a perfect world we would love for them to be adopted together but understand how much that is to ask for. Dakota has not been reactive towards other dogs in the shelter and may enjoy having a friend to play with. She can be intimidated by really rowdy dogs. We can always provide a dog meet and greet prior to adopting if needed! From the sounds of it Dakota has not lived with children or any small critters. Introductions should be taken slowly! Dakota is very sweet and loves to be scratched. She does great with handling and believes all attention is great. Dakota is potty trained, and crate trained. She was used to spending most of her day in the crate in her previous home, she is looking forward to having more âfreeâ time in her new home! Dakota does know the cue âsitâ and walks well on a leash. Dakota did arrive to the shelter with some skin issues that we believe were caused by allergies. She is currently being treated in shelter and has been prescribed apoquel. Adopters should know that if her allergies are not managed that her skin will become irritated and her fur will most likely fall out. To keep her oh so stunning and feeling great we have a supply of apoquel to send home with adopters, and we do encourage adopters to get Dakota set up with their regular vet! If you feel that Dakota would be a good fit for your home, we would love for you to come and meet her!
