Clifford has come a long way since arriving in 2016 from the Houston Poodle Rescue closure. Originally labeled as aggressive, he’s shown us his real personality—playful, smart, and incredibly loyal—once he feels safe and understood. His biggest rule? No sharing food or toys with other dogs.

This endearing pup always has a toy in his mouth and absolutely loves to play—with you, not with other dogs. If he brings you a toy, he wants you to join in the fun, but try to take it without his permission and he may let you know he’s not cool with that. Clifford is not a fit for homes with children due to his food and toy guarding, but in the right home, he’s a sweetheart.

He enjoys baths, but he’s not a fan of grooming his back end—so a cone is used to keep him and the groomer safe. He hasn’t offered to bite anyone in years, except for the occasional grooming mishap.
