She loves being near people and will happily follow you from room to room, quietly lying at your feet or resting her head in your lap for some extra cuddles. She is getting used to the sounds and rhythms of home life - stairs, toys, cozy beds and endless affection.Story | Tilly was surrendered by a breeder in Missouri. Other Dogs | Tilly is loving being a single dog right now, as she's always been surrounded by and in competition with other breeder dogs. She can become uncomfortable around unfamiliar dogs and does best in a home where she's the only pet. While she may tolerate calm dogs eventually, once she gains some more confidence, she truly shines when she has her space and undivided attention from her humans. Cats | Cat tested and approved! Tilly is currently being fostered with a cat and she simply ignores the cat. Children | Tilly is still adjusting to life around humans, as she was always an outside dog. Due to her size and limited socialization, Tilly would do best in a home with older children (8+) who understand how to interact calmly and respectfully with dogs. Training | Tilly is a blank slate and eager to please! She does love a good game of fetch! Don't let her size fool you, she can run fast! Leash | Tilly is new to the leash but even with her large size she is making great progress with a simple lead and she will be a fantastic walking companion! Activity Level | Tilly is pretty mellow and matches her humans energy level. She is happy to play fetch and just as happy to nap at your feet, or on your lap if you let her Health Notes | Matilda is heartworm positive, but treatment is very successful and completely manageable with all the proper education. MHLRM will cover the expense of treatment at one of our approved veterinarians. Heartworm positive dogs go on to live happy, normal lives after treatment and rarely experience long-term side effects. Don't let this stop you from adopting Matilda!Thank you! | Adoption Donations | Our adoption donations are $475 for dogs 8 weeks to 1 year, $425 for 1-6 years, $375 for dogs 7-10 years, and $250 for 11+ years of age.
