Named after the folk hero Daniel Boone, who was known for his many heroic actions and chivalrous adventures, our Boone is no less a hero, mostly for being a total sweetheart but also courteous and gallant.Just over one-year-old, this lab mix is a fun young dog, playful and friendly.Non-reactive to other dogs that walk by him. Very good at meeting new people.Happy when you hold his paw and give him belly rubs.Loves his chewy bones. So come meet a real hero...Notes on Boone's afternoon out with a volunteer:Boone and I had a super lovely afternoon at Putah Creek. He was so peaceful and easy out in nature, away from the shelter. He walked nearly loose leash for much of the afternoon and was such a pleasure to be with the entire time.We came across maybe eight to ten dogs with their people in the 2.5 hours we were there and he was easy around every single one. Even with a reactive dog, Boone was cool as a cucumber. He noticed each dog but was happy to just watch them and continue on our way.He took treats gently and was so happy with praise when asked to sit, shake, and lie down.We came across a little girl of maybe four years old who was hesitant at first, but he sat quietly when her mother encouraged her to pet him. He was so gentle with her, smelling her hand and accepting her petting him softly on his shoulder. He was just so good.He loved being in the car, fell asleep on the way home.Gold stars all the way!____________________Now if that report isn't enough to get Boone adopted, we don't know what is!!Our walk-in hours are Friday and Saturday or by appointment Monday through Thursday, 11-3.
