Special Needs? Bonita has a lot of love to give despite her advanced years. She was neglected in her early years so we have taken care of many of the things that should have been done were not. We spayed her, removed mammary tumors that developed because she was intact, and we've done a lot of work to salvage what can be saved of her vision. Bonita was not well treated. She was filthy with skin conditions from dirt and flea infestations. Her eyes were caked shut and never cleaned. All of this has been addressed. Today, Bonita is a happy senior who is as healthy as we can get her. She will need regular follow up's and may need an antibiotic ointment or a serum in her eyes from time to time.
Weight: 13.4 lbs (Bonita is in good weight now. She was underweight when she came to us but has proven she likes food and will happily be at a normal weight if you give her a chance)
Height: 12 in at the shoulder
Spayed/Neutered: Yes
Adoption Fee: $1 - I am priceless
Fence needed? No, Bonita is an indoor girl.
What kind of home would be best for me? Bonita’s spirit shines bright. She needs a patient, understanding home where she can safely learn her surroundings and feel secure. Her resilience is remarkable—after being found as a stray and arriving at the shelter in rough condition, Bonita has made a wonderful transformation. She came to us with matted fur, irritated skin from flea infestations, and eyes caked shut from neglect. Thanks to proper care and lots of love, she is now a happy, healthier pup who’s ready for her next chapter. Bonita is ready to find a forever home filled with warmth, care, and companionship.
Bonita’s small size and sweet nature make her a great fit for a variety of living situations, whether it’s an apartment or a house. She’s not particular about her adopter—she simply hopes to find someone who is home most of the day. They can be a single person, a couple, or a family. Bonita thrives on companionship and enjoys being around her people as much as possible. Though she’s a senior, Bonita still has a youthful, playful side. She enjoys playing with both people and other dogs and would do well either as the only dog or as part of a friendly pack.
What is my personality like? Meet Bonita, a sweet senior looking for her forever home. Bonita is a gentle, affectionate senior girl who melts the heart of everyone she meets. She’s ready to spend her Golden Years in a calm, loving home filled with comfort, care, and companionship. Bonita is an energetic older girl with an outgoing personality; she loves playing with other dogs.
Bonita may not be interested in learning commands or leash training—after all, she believes she’s perfectly sized to be carried on outings! She’d love to tag along for errands, sit with you at a sidewalk café, or join you for a quick trip to the pharmacy—especially if there’s a pup cup involved. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving older companion with a big heart and a playful spark, Bonita might just be the perfect match for you.
How do I act when I first meet new people? Bonita is always happy to meet new people and enjoys being loved on.
Other tips and tidbits: Bonita was born on or about 01/13/2013.
House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule if a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
