There’s a region in Sydney called the Blue Mountains, and I’ve been reading about it for some inspiration for our dog, Blue Mtns bio. I recently watched a video about the spectacular fireflies that can only be found there.The video mentioned, “With the right timing and conditions in the best locations, large numbers of fireflies can be seen on a single evening.” This made me think of Blue Mtns. In her kennel at the shelter, you don’t really see who she is. Even outside her kennel, she might not show her true self. But with the right timing, the right conditions, and the best location—a home—you’ll discover the magnificent dog that she truly is.Like those elusive fireflies hidden beneath the cliffs, Blue Mtns thrives outside of the shelter, in a loving home. Watching that video reminded me of the beauty of truly seeing a dog for who they are—not the impression they give within the shelter walls, and not the image we might project onto them. Sometimes, these dogs need you to venture beyond the canyons, caves, and cliffs to see their true spirit. And it’s those dogs who become your heart dog.Look beyond what's presented to you- try to see the whole picture.
