Medical disclosure: Suspected persistent pupillary membrane in right eye
vacciné
3670 Nevada St, Pleasanton, CA 94566, USA
Grayson was transferred to Valley Humane on 3/31 from Stockton Animal Services. He had been found stray. Grayson weighs 9.9 pounds and is a young adult (estimated to be aged between 1 and 4 years old).
Grayson has a chronic, non-inflammatory pigment in his right eye, suspected to be a "persistent pupillary membrane". The pupillary membrane is a normal fetal structure, which covers the pupil prior to birth then typically disappears shortly after birth. Sometimes part or all of it persists, which is then called a persistent pupillary membrane (PPM). This disorder is hereditary and shows up as abnormal pigment on the cornea (clear surface of the eye) or as strand connecting the iris (the colored portion of the eye) to the cornea. Given how small Grayson's lesion is, prognosis is good, with no anticipated effect on the pet's systemic health or vision.
