Velvet is an all around great kitty! She eagerly welcomes her foster parents home with chirps, meows, purrs, and freshly made “biscuits”. She adjusts and recovers quickly from environmental novelty and happily greets new people with curiosity. She has a daily session or two of silliness and zoomies but in general, this fuzzy beauty is most happy being chill. Although she will follow you around and often wants to be nearby, she does not want constant attention or petting - what a perfect housemate!
Life on the streets unfortunately led to Velvet contracting Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV), a highly contagious virus that only affects cats. This means that Velvet either needs to be your only cat or any other household kitties must also be FeLV positive.
Velvet’s history with other animals is unknown, but she does get anxious when she hears a neighbor’s large dog running around. Given her calm demeanor and fondness for napping, she would be happiest in a more calm home without young children or high energy pets.
Velvet is being loved in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting and adopting her, the first step is to submit a PAWS adoption application and speak with a PAWS staff member to become an approved adopter. Once you have been approved you can reach out to her foster mom at the below email. Velvet’s adopter will need to sign a waiver regarding her FeLV + status (staff will discuss this during the adoption process). Additional questions can also be answered by her foster mom.
